2 Weeks Old, ALREADY?!?!

Well not much has changed here. Teague seems to be eating more, so we will find out today at his 2 week appt. how much he weighs. He has become more alert and awake, so it is fun to finally see some eyes! We try to rile him up and get him to stay awake for a couple of hours in the evening because that seems to help him sleep better at night. Luckily he seems to have his days and nights figured out, which makes that easier for mom and dad! He typically goes down for the night at 10 when we go to bed and wakes up again around 2 am to eat. Now sometimes after his 2 am feeding he thinks it is playtime, so we are trying to work on that. We lay him in his bassinet and he flings his arms everywhere and just makes little noises to entertain himself until he falls asleep!

Ryan seems to be doing a little better with his sleep talking/actions, etc! He has awakened to find himself stroking the top of the sound machine thinking it was Teague's head and also woke up thinking the burp rag was Teague and that he had left him on the nightstand! Wow, what a dreamfull imagination Daddy has!

Saturday Daddy took Teague to St. Ben's to watch/coach his boys in a basketball tournament. Of course Teague did wonderful and even stayed awake for one entire game. Though he did seem rather unphased by it all!

All in all we are loving life with Teague. Everyday he seems to change a little more and I try not to wish him older (i.e. "I can't wait until he starts to smile") because I just know he will be bigger before I know it!

Life with a Baby

Well we have really adjusted pretty well to having a life with a baby now. Teague really makes it easy to adjust, though I am still holding my breath because he just seems "too good" to be true!! He is still eating like a champ and sleeps about 3.5-4 hour stretches at night. I am starting to sleep better as well and not wake up to his every little movement or noise! I think that Ryan is sleeping okay, though last night I woke up to him "burping" my arm. I thought he was trying to wake me up so I awakened in a panic only to see that Ryan was still sleeping and burping ME! When I asked him what he was doing he grabbed his pillow and told me he was "putting the baby away" to which I again panicked thinking he left Teague in bed with us. Nope, Teague was sleeping soundly in his bassinet and Daddy was well, in Daddy mode ALL night long!

Anyway, our basement will be nearly completed tomorrow! We are quite excited to have one last home project completed. My dad finished the fieldrock fireplace and it looks awesome. I promise to take some pictures now that it is all finished (well tomorrow anyway). We still need to put bathroom fixtures in, but that can wait for now.

We have had a few more excursions as well. We went to Morris OVERNIGHT and Teague did great! My mom and I took in a little craziness at Crazy Days in Morris as it was over 100 degrees with the heat index. Miserable, however I did get some good deals! Tonight we are going to a little going away party for a co-worker and this weekend Daddy plans to take Teague to watch his basketball boys in a tournament. Daddy says that mommy should stay home and rest. I think he just wants to have Teague all to himself to show him off!!

One week old already!

Well I can't imagine life without Teague - nor do I really remember what it was like beforehand (though I have this nagging feeling that I may have been more rested?!). Life with Teague is absolutely amazing! He is the best baby and rarely fusses. He eats like a little piglet and oftentimes makes little piggy sounds when he is eating! He sleeps around 3-3.5 hours at night in between feedings and about 4 hours between feedings during the day. We are loving getting to know our little boy, he changes everyday and in our UNBIASED opinion he gets cuter and cuter each day as well! We have had a few outings - going to Walmart in Sauk Centre seems to be one of the more popular places we attend! He has been out to eat at McDonald's, traveled to Morris to watch cousin Skylar in a Bible School program and tonight to a baseball game to see some of Daddy's old baseball friends (I think Daddy is a little excited about showing him off)!

Introducing...TEAGUE RYAN DUSHA!

On Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 8:53 p.m., Teague Ryan Dusha made his entrance into this world! On Friday evening the 13th we went to the Twins game and when we got home around midnight my water broke. I still wasn't sure that it had broke, so at midnight I went and walked on the treadmill - well it didn't take me long to realize that it had truly broke. We called the hospital and they told us to come in and they would check me. So after a shower and gathering up our bags, we were off to the hospital. After the nurses talked to my OB he wanted them to have me sleep (which didn't happen) to see if I could develop a regular labor pattern (again, didn't happen). At 6 a.m. I started on pitocin and after many hours and the epidural working, not working, wearing off, and then running out of medicine - Teague Ryan Dusha was born at 8:53 pm weighing in at a WHOPPING 10.06 pounds and measuring 23" long. He had a pretty large conehead going on, but it since has subsidded and looks much better! He is so wonderful and the feelings of having him here are truly a miraculous experience. Seeing Ryan as a father makes me grow deeper and deeper in love with him. So we are home now and we are just adjusting to getting to know eachother. Teague is pronounced like League, but with a T. We are looking forward to you being able to meet him - until then enjoy our pictures!

9+ months pregnant and the stomach flu

Oh the joys of sharing your 3rd anniversary with the stomach flu and being 9+ months pregnant. I woke up around 3 am on the 10th (our anniversary) with HORRIBLE stomach pains - well I will spare you all the details, but to put it plainly - I have never had the stomach flu in such force in all my life. I thought I was possibly in labor as I was having these stomach crampings every 2 minutes from 3 am until 8 am. It was unbearable, I was just moaning the whole time while I cramped - I thought "if this is labor there is NO way an epidural can make THIS feel better"! I didn't wake Ryan because I didn't want him to worry, but when he did wake up he freaked a little and wanted to go into the hospital. I still wasn't convinced that I was in labor - I mean, really - who wants to throw up on their baby the first time they meet him?! So long story short, after a call to the hospital and a mid morning nap, besides horrific stomach pains, I started to feel better. So we slept and laid around all day long on our anniversary instead of going out for a nice meal. Now we just continue to sit and wait to see if Dunstan will make an arrival anytime soon. We see Dr. Heller tomorrow, but I am guessing nothing new unless having the stomach flu can make you dilate?!

Why the name Dunstan??

So I have gotten a few comments on the name Dunstan (I guess it's a good thing that is NOT his real name...). Anyway, I call him Dunstan because it reminded me of when my niece, Skylar, was barely two years old. She would always talk about "Dunstan" and we never knew who she was talking about. Well here she was talking about a movie with Dunstan the monkey. Well that is exactly what this baby acts like, a monkey. He is WILD!

I hope you all had a nice 4th of July. We went to Morris to my parents' house. Ryan and my dad played a round of golf in the morning and then we lounged in the pool all afternoon. It was really nice. That night we went to the fireworks display. It was nice and low key - just the way I like it when I am 9 months pregnant! And, Dunstan seemed rather un-phased by the fireworks.

We had my 38.5 week check this morning. No progress. I was really disappointed, I thought I would start to cry. But I know the most important thing is that Dunstan AND I are both healthy and I have not reached my due date...YET. I think I am just so worried that by the time I hit my due date Dunstan will be too large to deliver. Dr. Heller guesses that he is already 8 pounds, so I am guessing he will be a good, healthy 9 pounds by July 17th....I guess I figured he would be big. My sister and I were both big babies and my sister herself delivered big babies - so those are genetics for you!

Are more babies REALLY born during a full moon?!

Well the theory that more babies are born during a full moon is just soooo not true in my case! My sister says more are born in a NEW moon, which would be July 14th. Okay, so I have to tell the truth - July 14th would be really okay with me, but I think it is more the pure fact that I DON'T know WHEN Dunstan will arrive and now I am just anxious to know WHEN!!! Tomorrow is Dave's 60th bday and he is predicting that I will have the baby sometime between tomorrow and the 4th of July! I am holding him to it!! Of course with Ryan home from Vegas nothing has happened to give me hope that I am anywhere closer to having this baby than I was 3 months ago! Like I have said, he is way too comfortable. Unfortunately I am to the point where I am now retaining fluid so my ankles are pretty swollen by the end of the day. But otherwise I feel really great and am still getting around rather easily.

Tomorrow I am going to Mpls to do some shopping with my mom and sister, I bet that my body will be really swollen by tomorrow night, but if it helps get Dunstan here a bit faster then I will do whatever. Oh, and I plan to ride the lawn mower this week - when I rode the lawn mower back in May I was having a lot of contractions and that was TOO early to be having contractions, but this week is fine by me!

I have added some of our professional belly pics and also pics of Dunstan's room. Also, we will be announcing WHEN Dunstan is born via email, so I hope nobody feels too bad about not getting a personal phone call. I hope that everyone has a Happy 4th of July!
