Time to rest up!

Geez, going on a vacation is a lot of work! When you get home you have to rest up! We had a great time in NYC. The weather was VERY hot and we did TONS of walking. It does make you appreciate small town MN after awhile!

Our flight left on time Monday morning, so we were in NYC by 10:30 a.m. That day we just took in a few sights and then went to a nice dinner and then to the Broadway hit, "Avenue Q". That play is hilarious! If you like crude humour, you will love it too. Tuesday we walked around the city and that night was the Twins vs. the Yankees. Of course we had to get to Yankee Stadium at 4:30 even though the gates didn't open until 5. Whatever for the boys so they didn't complain while the gals shopped I guess! We had a good time at the game, even though the turnout wasn't in our favor. The Yankees fans were actually really fun and heckling us in good fun about our Twins gear and "Circle me Bert", "Melrose, MN - Go Dutchmen", and "Paynesville, MN - Go Bulldogs" signs! I can't believe we made those signs and Bert STILL did not put us on t.v. What a bummer!!! Then Wednesday we did the typical NY double deck bus tour and then that night the boys took the train to Shea Stadium to watch the Mets and Krista and I stayed back. We were going to go on this lights tour of the city, but we laid down on our beds in the hotel and it was impossible to get up again! We then met our cousin, Heidi, and her husband Rick at a bar in Times Square. Funny enough, they only live about 2 hours away from us in MN, but we never see them. So they were staying about one block from our hotel in Times Square, so we met up in NYC! It was a good time and a late night. Whew. Then Thursday we did a boat cruise, went to see Lady Lib and more touristy things. Our flight was supposed to arrive home in MN at 11 pm. Needless to say, it was delayed and we didn't get home to our beds until 2:30 a.m. We were pooped out!

On Friday Ryan and I met my mom and picked up little man Teague. He was sleeping in the car when we got there, so he just acted like it was no big deal to see us. However on the way home he kept waving and saying "hi Dada, hi Dada"! It was cute. As the day went on he just kept showing off - so I think he did miss us and that he was glad to be home! He had a great week at Nana and Papa's. My niece and nephew were there so that kept him entertained 24/7. They also had vacation Bible school at their church, so Teague loved watching all the little kids sing. My mom said he would just go crazy watching them. He learned a few more words while we were gone like "ball", "nana", "num num" and "bottle". What a smarty. Now if he would only say "mama" and mean it.
"Look at my cool NYPD car my mama and daddy got me in NYC!"

Look at that face! Looks like he is glad to be home!

Mama's little flower watering helper! (Monkey see, Monkey do???)

We are looking forward to a nice and relaxing week at home. Hopefully we can renew our tans by the pool.

Have a great week!

New York, New York!

I have been busy packing for our trip to NYC. We leave tomorrow for Mpls and then we leave bright and early Monday morning. I, however, have not packed a thing for myself. I have just been getting everything ready for Teague and making sure he will have everything he needs while Nana and Papa stay with him. I am super excited about our trip, however I am feeling a little sadness/anxiety about leaving Teague. I know he will be fine, but me...well, that may be another story! We are going to NYC with my sister and her husband. We have dinner and a Avenue Q reservations on Monday, Tuesday is the Twins vs. the Yankees at Yankee stadium and then Wednesday and Thursday are reserved for serious shopping and tourisy type of things. It should be a good time. Now I just need to get my butt off of the computer and onto packing (for me).

Teague is a toddler - well at least according to some people. I prefer to still think of him as my baby. He had his one year check and continues to make good strides! Because of the medicine he was on (that he had an allergic reaction to) he lost one pound, so he is down to 25 lbs., 8 oz. = 90th percentile (that's the first time this kid has even been below 95th!), his height is 33.5 inches = off the charts. So he is still busy growing. His walking is great - as a matter of fact he mostly trots now. He does these amazing little "u-turns" in an attempt to get away from me when he has something he shouldn't have. Luckily he is NOT faster than me - yet. He can also tell you what a dog says and he loves to say "hi", "hi there", and "bye" to anyone who will look at him. I am starting to feel bad for him when we are in public and people ignore his greetings! At least he doesn't seemed discouraged at this point.

"The balloons are the best part about birthdays!"

"I also love tearing the paper off of my presents!"

Happy Anniversary to Me!

Well I can't believe it has already been 4 years that Ryan and I have been married. Time flies when you are having fun I guess. It must really fly for him because he made some comment to me about the "last 5 years".

We did celebrate on the 9th (one day early) by going out to dinner. Then this morning I got breakfast in bed!

I for the most part celebrated our anniversary without Ryan. He went to Vegas AGAIN for a bachelor party for the long weekend. If you remember, he went to another bachelor party last year just two weeks before Teague was born. And last year on our anniversary I had the stomach flu (which I know now was early labor as Teague was born shortly thereafter). Last year we celebrated the day after. Some year we will get it right and celebrate on the 10th! Here is a picture of Teague and I with the flowers that dada sent to me. Happy Anniversary babe. Thanks for the best 4 years (+2 that we dated) of my life.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy belated 4th of July! We had a great weekend. We went to Morris and hung out in Nana and Papa's pool, went to Teague's first parade - but no big Hancock fireworks this year. Teague goes to bed too early for fireworks! My sister and her family were camping near Morris so Ryan and I went to their campsite and watched their mini-firework extravaganza. It was hard not to sit and reminisce that last year's 4th of July celebration I was so pregnant and just waiting for "Dunstan" to be born. I remember before we went to the fireworks that I made sure for two hours beforehand not to drink anything because I knew there wouldn't be anywhere to pee! Wooooo, I practically ran into the house when we got back (as fast as I could run anyway) so I could finally use the bathroom! Fun times. Anyway, hope your 4th was great - here are some pics from the weekend.

Teague and his "friends" at the parade. Boy, he really must be entertaining. Look at how attentive they all are. He must be taking after his dad and will be a teacher someday??

"Hmm, I wonder if mama and daddy noticed that I found this piece of candy from the parade?"

The Trio swimming in Nana's pool.

"I am so cool in my sideways Twins hat."

Here he is on the 4th of July showing off his "Dad's Little Firecracker" t-shirt. Adorable.

Teague and "Dada" (still his favorite word)

Teague and Mama (still NOT his favorite word)

This is from Skylar's birthday. APPARENTLY he does NOT like wearing the birthday hat after he pulled the elastic string and it snapped him on his chin. I sure hope he doesn't cry like this at his own party or we'll have to sing that old ditty...you know, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to...."

What a week.

We have had a hectic week. On Monday Teague started showing signs of a pretty major rash (started to look like poison ivy) and by Tuesday morning (and being up with him from 11:30 - 2:30 a.m.) he had a solid red rash from cheeks to toes, it was swollen and hot to the touch. We took him in to see Dr. Heller and we found out that he is also allergic to the bactrim that he was on for the ear infection. Now for those of you keeping track, he is allergic to two antibiotics - the other is amoxicillian. He has only been on two antibiotics in his lifetime and both times for ear infections (thank you top teeth)! Poor babe. I guess that BS they tell you about nursing your baby will make them have less allergies is a bunch of crap. "They" say to nurse the baby until 6 months for it to be most beneficial and up to a year for that added extra cushion. Well this babe was nursed until he was 10.5 months and continues to get the liquid gold in a bottle. AAHH! Anyway, Tuesday night - same thing, up from midnight to 3 a.m. I was exhausted. Finally last night we seem back to the 12 straight hours of normal slumber. The weird thing is that he wasn't sad or acting like he was upset while he was awake, just playing - like literally running around the bonus room while I watched TV and wished him to sleep. It was crazy.

Then yesterday he went to daycare so that Ryan and I could get some stuff done in St Cloud. On my way home from dropping him off I hit the shoulder of the road JUST SLIGHTLY and my car died DEAD on the side of the road. The engine would turn over, just not start. So after having it towed to our mechanic, I find out that a rock from hitting the shoulder flew up and cracked my fuel line! Can you believe it, isn't that just a freak thing?!

Anyway, hope your week is good and Happy 4th!!
