| My little Tae Kwon Do star! First place in his first tournament! |
 |
| Yum, check out all the V-Day loot! |
 |
| The start of the Mystery trip, just missing Amber! |
 |
| Here's Amber though, showing off how pretty she would be with a feather in her hair. Lovely. |
 |
| On President's Day Monday, T and I took advantage of the day and tried out our ice skating skills at the arena during Lola's nap time. |
 |
| One of the few times he actually was standing. |
 |
| Yes, that looks more like it. I think he actually liked falling and sliding around on the ice. I have assured his dad that it appears that he can cross off the likelihood that he will take up hockey over bball. |

| Friday fun at The Bounce Depot. |
 |
| Friday Fun at Bounce Depot, but she's rather play on the toys like those at the mall play land. Go figure. |
Last week was a very sad week for the Melrose community as well as the school. I don't think there has been a time in my career that I struggled for strength like I did last week. The Melrose HS class of 2012 had a very well liked and valued classmate die in a silo farming accident. Craig Wiechmann was a fantastic kid. You rarely saw that young man without a smile on his face. It was apparent how much of an impact he had on so many lives as I talked to so many students that talked so fondly about the "little" things Craig did for them. Craig quite obviously had a gift of recognizing others in need and putting their feelings and needs in front of his own. When I met his parents last week I realized that he learned that from them. Mike and Brenda are amazingly strong people with a fantastic faith. Even through all of what they were dealing with their thought process was how they could help others. It was quite the learning experience for me. Overwhelming, humbling, sad and amazing - all in one week's time. Craig will be deeply missed and it will be felt for quite some time.
Following that week I couldn't have timed my Mystery Girlie weekend more perfectly. Myself and 7 of my college and high school friends took off for some all girl fun. We got on a coach bus and had no idea where we were heading. We had a great time in the Minneapolis area shopping, eating, saw a play and catching up. It was much needed time away for me and so great to reconnect with 7 other amazing gals!
I have been so busy at work. I feel it all catching up to me as I lay here on a Saturday coming down with a sinus infection - I get these when I am run down. In the midst of everything else at school I had college testing, which is set up months ahead of time, and during the middle of it I contracted strep throat. Needless to say there is nobody to sub for me, so I stuck it out and got through it but now I am feeling it catch up to me. Yuck. I inevitably get sick around this time of the bball season and school year and to tell you the truth I start to feel really bad for myself - yes, pity party me! I need my mom - but not to take care of me, to take care of my kids! =)
Lola is trying to learn to potty train right now. It's pretty hit and miss. I don't really know if she is ready or not as I never had to train Teague. He just decided he was ready and never had an accident nor did I ever have to ask him if he had to "go potty". I know, every kid is different and Lola has defined that for me time and time again! So we are giving it the rest of this weekend and then I may just let it go and wait for her to decide. It will probably be around the time she starts kindergarten.
Teague has essentially given up naps altogether now. Unfortunately he still gets a half hour or 45 minute nap at daycare during the day which means he stays up until 10:30. Holy crap that makes for a long evening. He, unfortunately, does not understand when I tell him I just need time to myself. Really "mom mode" shuts down around 8:30 so out the door goes my patience and tolerance. T finds it fun to be so silly so late in the evening. I find it hard to be stern. I would rather go to bed, roll over, go to sleep and just let him go to bed whenever he finally gets tired. Luckily he is a really good boy, so I usually end up giving him a movie to watch on his DVD player and then we both find peace. Whew, that's a relief! Other than that, he continues to amaze me as the most kind and considerate little boy. He never argues with me, never has a temper tantrum, and is so go with the flow about life.
We have about one month of the bball season left. Ryan's team is doing well and I am time and time again so proud of him. He loves coaching and he does a fantastic job at it. His team is currently 18-6.
I am looking forward to the impending snow storm and hopefully being snowed in. Truthfully I hope it'd bad enough so school is canceled on Monday! But there is just something about being home just the 4 of us while it storms outside.
Have a great week.
