What social life?

I believe that Teague is our social life now. Well at least mine. Ryan is getting into the midst of basketball with the season just around the corner. He had a basketball clinic for a couple of days in Minneapolis. Teague and I headed up to my mom and dad's for a couple of days. Teague slept like crap and I was at wit's end. He seems like he has one great week where he will sleep until 4 am and then back to bed after eating until 7 or 8 and then we have weeks like the one we are currently experiencing (and experienced at my parent's): to bed at 8, up at 2 am, back to bed and up to PLAY AT 4 AM!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! So we were suppose to go to a Halloween party on Saturday night and I was beyond exhausted in addition to the fact that we were going to bring Teague with and I realized that he is no longer mobile anywhere past his bedtime. So I have no social life any longer. Unless we hire a babysitter to come to our house, but seriously - I can barely get this baby to bed some nights, how could someone else?! So we are working on a better sleep schedule and it is called "CRY IT OUT". I hate it. I hate every minute of it, but I am exhauted and can't continue to hold or carry this baby around the house all day long so he can be rested. He has a crib and it is a very nice crib at that, so he needs to use it!!

Last Tuesday Ryan and I went to the Twolves game (last date we will likely ever have again until Teague is 12). He refused the bottle for the duration of 6.5 hours that we were gone and was still awake at 11 pm. Yep, there goes our dating life too. So after some trial and error, we have found a bottle that seems to work. He started refusing the bottle after he was sick. Poor baby (well I sorta feel bad for him).

Playdates and more...

Well Teague had his first official playdate on Saturday. He met his fellow fat, er chunky, friend Milo. Milo was born just 3.5 weeks before Teague. He didn't weigh quite as much as Teague at birth, but he has made up for it. I believe Jaci said he is about the same weight as Teague (about 16 pounds), but he is a little shorter than Teague so his nice chub rolls show up a bit more! It was fun to watch those two check eachother out a bit while Jaci and I got to catch up on the glory of motherhood (aka: sleepless nights with confused, sleepy husbands)and have some good food at the mall. Here are some pictures:

Teague also got a visit for the first time from his Auntie Grummy from Seattle. She took about one million pictures so I didn't and now I don't have any pictures to put on here. Hopefully Grummy will share some of her pictures and we can put some on here. She fell madly in love with Teague and I teased her that her eggs are getting hot!! ha ha. It was fun to see her again.

Then on Monday Teague had another playdate. But he wasn't so interested in playing. I went over to my friend from high school - Kelly's house in Alexandria. Kelly, her husband Eric and I had a good time. Well I take that back - Kelly and I had fun while Eric consoled my crabby baby. Poor Eric! And their son, Devin, was so interested in Teague (or Egg or Gag - as Devin referred to him as) and yet Teague was a crab! So I would say that Kelly and I had the most fun! Here is a picture of Devin holding Teague - one of the only moments he WASN'T crying!

Ryan was off from work on Thursday and Friday. It was so nice to have him all to ourselves full time for two extra days over the weekend. We even had some alone time - but very limited as Teague has decided that he no longer likes a bottle! He hasn't taken it since he was sick in the hospital! That makes it a little hard for me to leave! Last night Ryan and I went to the Twolves game and Auntie Jocelyn watched him. Well he didn't eat from 3:30 until 10:30! What a stinker! So today we went to Walmart and picked up a new kind of bottle and he seems to accept that one a little better - which is good since I am going to be gone tomorrow night! We'll see how it goes!

Another birthday?!

Well after all of the craziness of the past week with Teague being sick, my birthday still came (and went). To tell you the truth, it was just another day - but of course the best present worth celebrating was Ryan and Teague - my boys. Boy, do I ever feel fortunate to have the best two boys ever! This time last year I might have been lounging in the Bahamas - but nothing can compare to how wonderful it feels to have Teague part of our lives! We celebrated by going out for dinner at the Timberlodge. We had some good food. Here are some pictures:

And here are the flowers that "Peague" sent me (the lady at the floral shop must have misunderstood how to spell his name!)

How Teague celebrated his 3 month birthday...

This is a little story about how baby Teague celebrated his 3 month birthday. Saturday, the day before his 3 month birthday was a normal old day. He went to bed without a fuss and an hour later he was crying (which is not normal for him - we usually don't hear him until the WEE morning hours). After I picked him up he vomitted all over me. After cleaning him up and putting him in new jammies, he vomitted again. We cleaned him up and then he vomitted again. Now I knew something was wrong and it was more than "I am mad that you let me cry in my crib". So I called the Melrose Hospital and they suggested that I give him pedi-lyte every half hour to keep him hydrated and if he continued to vomit to bring him into the ER. So at 11:00 at night I grabbed my purse and off to Walmart I went. When I got home he was dry-heaving and when offered a bottle with pedi-lyte, he vomitted that as well. I was beside myself because I just felt so awful for him. So off we went to the Melrose ER. The Dr. there basically took one look at him and said "he needs to be seen at the St. Cloud ER" - which sent me into a pile of tears. The Dr. said "I can see that he hurts and I am not sure what from". He was worried about his herniated belly button and the possiblity of a bowel obstruction. So at 1:00am we arrived at the St. Cloud Hospital ER (which turned out to be extremely entertaining - all things considered - on the weekend of SCSU's homecoming - wow, drunk college kids are annoying, yet wildly entertaining!). We were admitted and Teague had an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis, a chest and abdomen X-ray to check for the bowel obstruction and an IV (POOR POOR baby) to rehydrate him and blood work. It all came back negative (thank you Lord), he just had a bad flu bug. So at 6 am they discharged us and we came home where we had spotty sleep most of Sunday. He seemed better, but he was not eating a thing and by 6 pm Sunday night he was very lethargic and refused to eat a thing. He looked quite sad and pathetic, which broke both mine and Ryan's hearts. We all took our turns crying - Teague and Mama with Ryan comforting us, Ryan and Teague with me comforting them. It was pure hell. Finally with Teague screaming, we took a medicine dropper and one ml at a time put breastmilk in his mouth. After doing 1/2 ounce every 1/2 hour for 3 hours he perked up and seemed to be doing better. Last night I slept with him all night offering him food anytime he stirred. Today I finally have my baby back. He is a cooing, smiling, oggling, little booger. I LOVE having my happy baby back. However, I feel exhausted now that I am feeling like I can relax again. So now it is catch up time for me!

Go SJU! Or is it St. Olaf?

The weather was so nice on Saturday. Ryan decided to take Teague to the SJU homecoming football game. They played St. Olaf. While Ryan was getting ready for the game, I got Teague ready as well. Well if you know anything about Ryan, he bleeds "Johnny" red for SJU. This is what Teague was wearing when Ryan was about ready to walk out the door for the game:

Yeah, he didn't like it too well. He refused to let Teague wear that and since I wanted an afternoon to myself, I decided I should change him! Teague got the shirt from one of my former stydents who plays basketball for St. Olaf - Kelsey Oja. (Sorry Kelsey, at least I tried - I guess it will have to wait until bball starts and we can watch you!) While they were gone I got so much stuff done, but the weird thing is that at least 4 different times I stopped what I was doing thinking I could hear Teague crying. I had to remind myself that he wasn't even home! I thought about it later and realized that was the first time I had been home alone since before Teague was born! Sure I have been without Teague from time to time since his birth, but I usually was taking advantage of that time by going shopping or out with friends!

Things are going really quite well here. Last week we bought a swimming pool that will be installed next spring/early summer. We are super excited about it. My plan is to start water babies with Teague in January or February so he will be used to and willing to be in the pool next summer.

Ryan sleeps like a log, I swear he never even hears Teague. The other night (a bad night) I said "I can't believe it, he is crying" and Ryan replied with "who's crying"?! Um, are you kidding me? Have you forgotten that we have a baby?? I mean let's think about it, you're not crying and I'm not crying - I guess that leaves Teague?! If only I could sleep that hard!! I think those days are over for me!

Some fun pictures

Big Boys Make me Cry!! Some of my former students came to visit us over homecoming. It was really fun to see Andrea, Jen, Luke and Mike. I teased the boys and told them if Teague woke up and was crying that they had to hold him. Well he didn't wake up too happy!
