What's the big deal mom??

Well I can see how life is going to be. I will always worry about Teague's ability to "re-adjust" or "get back into the groove" and what I am learning is that he is nothing like me. Change does not bother him. Whew, what a relief for him and me. He definitely has his dad's laid back, content and easy approach to life as going back to Tina's was seriously no big issue for him what-so-ever. I, of course, missed him like crazy being back at work. He has adjusted just fine to the new schedule that he has to be on with Tina's. At home he napped two times a day for two hours each and now he naps for Tina from 11:45 until 3:15 and then we pick him up at 3:20, so it works well for all of us.

I have found my camera - left it at the lake. So I hope to upload some pictures after I get it back on Tuesday. Have a safe and good Labor Day weekend. It sounds like the weather will be perfect, so one last hurrah of sun in the pool for us!

Get through "D-Day": CHECK!!!

Well I made it. And I did just fine. I really think the whole dread/anticipation of the event must help me. I mean I only lose sleep for like a few weeks beforehand, well worth it to get through the day without tears I guess! Tomorrow should be the real test. Teague is back at Tina's for the "long haul". He really only goes Tues, Wed and Thurs this week while we have workshops and then next week it's just 4 days and then the full 5 days thereafter. I think he will be fine. I do expect a couple of tearful days from him as he has become quite attached to Ryan and I. I have to admit I do love that he thinks Ryan and I totally rock though. It won't last so I am savoring it now.

We had a really nice weekend. We went to visit G-pa and G-ma on Saturday - along with the rest of the crowd that was there too. We had a good time! After that we went to eat at Fischer's on the lake in Avon. It's such a fun place to eat and every Saturday they have live music. Teague LOVED the music! As you can see from the pictures he was the first to enter AND entertain on the dance floor! Everyone was stopping and smiling and smirking about him on the dance floor! Ryan and I were just laughing. He OBVIOUSLY does not take after his dad's shyness of dancing. Well at least there is part of me in him!
Sunday Ryan had a fantasy football draft (which is an all day affair that involves golfing). Teague and I enjoyed our day at my friend Joyce's lake home! Teague LOVED the water. I think he thought it was interesting that he could walk right into the water, nobody has to lift him in like the pool! He was in heaven. He just ran around in the water and the sand and just played while Joyce and I visited. I would have some great pictures of that, but I lost my camera somewhere between there and our house! It's probably in one of Teague's toy boxes.

We are totally in awe of Teague. The other day I just said out the blue as Teague was leaving the room "Mr. Brown can Moo. Can you?" Well this is the name of one of his 25 books he has in a basket in the living room. This one was hiding in the basket and he sorts through all of his books (some on the floor, basket, etc.) and hands it to me!! I couldn't believe it. I thought it must be a coincidence. Nope, quizzed him on a few more and he did it then too! What's weird about it is that I have not once ever read the title of the book to him. He also has mastered some very good mannered signs too: more, please, thank you and all done. What's also weird about that is that I tried signing with him between months 6-8 and it didn't seem like we were going anywhere so I gave up. Out of the blue, yep you guessed it; he starts signing. What a genius I tell you.

Have a good last week in August!

Busy Bodies

Whew, I have been AWOL on this blog as of late. We have been really busy - well busy for us anyway. We have been trying to get in as many fun things as possible before D-day, which for me is Monday and is Tuesday for Ryan. So sad. I could have a panic attack just thinking about it. I swear, it's like going back after maternity leave - again. I guess I should get used to it, I will be doing this every year at this time for the next ba-jillion years.

Last week we went to the county fair in my parent's town. We had a good time and Teague loved the rides until it was his bedtime and then it was not fun anymore. He loved the kiddie barn and seeing the baby animals. Unfortunately he thinks they all go "woof woof" or "moo".

Last Sat. we got together at the Wahlin's cabin with 5 other couples. We had a really good time. So good I can't talk about it. All the goings on make it top secret. Here are a few normal pictures.

Yesterday I went to Mpls with my mom, sister and niece for a girls day. We went shopping, ate good food and then went to "Swing!" at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. It was really nice to be with the girls and have one last hurrah before back to school. Tonight Skylar is staying overnight. She wanted to hang with her auntie (more like wanted to play with Teague) before she is back to school. Tomorrow we are going to get pedicures and have our toes painted with cool little designs. It's such a big help having her here. She entertains and plays with Teague so it's kind of a break for Ryan and I, and Teague loves having someone else play/read with him besides us!

Other than that, Teague has been very busy learning. He LOVES books. He hands you a book and then turns around and backs into your lap to be read to. He particularily loves the books that have other kids in them and learning the body parts. The word of the week is "eyes?". I write it with a question mark because that is what it sounds like everytime. Of course he still has his normal words: Skylar ("Dyla"), Nana, Daddy, ball, book, bottle ("baba?"), Dada (which is not daddy - it's everyone else. He calls everyone else whose name he doesn't know, Dada. That includes me. Great.), puppy, etc. etc. I know I am forgetting them all because it seems like he is saying a new one everyday. Here he is pointing to and saying his favorite new word:

Hackedy Hack

Ah man. Baby Teague has been hacking like he's been smoking cartons upon cartons of cigs lately (lately as in the last 3 weeks). Luckily it hasn't changed his routine too much - i.e. still sleeps just fine. I contributed the coughing to his molars coming in. So on Wednesday I was getting a bit tired of the old cough cough and fuss fuss, so I thought I should have his ears looked at - just in case something was up. Well something sure was up and it had nothing to do with his ears for once. Little monkey has bronchitis and possible pneumonia! Poor dude. And I thought of my bud Jaci who says she thinks nothing is worse than having your baby strapped in those tubes to get a chest x-ray - though I think having a baby have his blood drawn is worse because you KNOW that hurts - this doesn't. This was the 2nd time Teague has had one of those horrifying x-rays (1st one when he spent 12+ hours in the ER back in Oct - read back to that entry if you are interested). I didn't escort him in for this x-ray. But I heard him scream. Ryan said he was pretty mad. So now he will hopefully be on the mend with a little R and R, and a little help from the z-pac. Whew.

Busy Little Man

Little man Teague is so busy these days. Even though I am not looking forward to leaving him full time again, I think he really likes being at Tina's because he can stay busy all day with other kids. He still goes to Tina's once a week to "stay in the groove". He really just loves being around other kids. When he is home he is busy playing, and he plays hard - but there are times that he wanders through the house with his chest out and arms swinging at his sides like he is just beside himself and doesn't know what to do next! He concentrates very hard on whatever he is doing. When he goes outside he spends most of the time out there getting dirty. I told Ryan I know it is bad when I have stopped buying any clothing that is white because it is too hard to get those items of clothing clean again. He tends to only wear white if we are going/doing something nice. Like today, we went to my nephew Chase's 5th birthday party. And as you can tell in the picture, he got very busy at the party getting dirty (read: eating sand).

On Friday my cousin got married in Sauk Centre. It was nice to have the wedding so nice and close and to be able to bring Teague along. I can't say that he really enjoyed it all that much since he just recently popped two more molars through. He has been a touch fussy from that process. Ouch, poor baby. Here is "The Trio" from the wedding:

We have a very low key week planned. Mostly we are just going to swim and take in the county fair (woo hoo)!

Have a great week!

Where is the summer going??

Oh I am not liking this. I don't like the idea of returning to work. (For those of you outside of the education profession - I am sorry for you that you don't understand this, so you may just want to skip over my pity party here!) I love being home with Teague. Love it. LOVE IT. Last summer was nice and all - I mean Teague was born! But this summer. Wow, it has been awesome. I know I still have about 3 weeks until I go back. But I don't want to return. I want to play all the time with Teague! How can't I want to? He is so easy and fun. He goes to bed at 8 pm, wakes at 8 am, we play until 10:30, he naps from 10:30 to 12:30, we play in the pool until 3, he naps from 3 to 5, we eat and play outside some more and then bed time. Life is good. Gosh I love this parenting business.

All in all, life is good here. We are busy being pool rats and enjoying being together. This weekend was fairly low key and hopefully the remaining weekends of the summer will be the same.

Take some time and enjoy the pictures of Teague/us from his 1 year photo shoot. The quality isn't great, but that's what you get when you scan textured proofs!
