What a week.

What a week. What a terrible, horrible, never-want-to-experience-that-again, week. For those that follow my dad's Caringbridge site, this is not surprising to you. To those who have not followed it, my dad came home from the hospital on Easter Sunday and then long story short - he had some major medical issues come up which required him to be rushed back to Mpls to the hospital, more surgery, ICU, etc. etc. It was AWFUL. My sister, Lola and I (yes Lola too - didn't really have any other option) rushed to Mpls to meet him (didn't know he was going to surgery) and once we finally got to see him (before surgery) - it was emotional turmoil. This may sound morbid and terrible and "why do you say that", but my dad smelled like he was dying. It was the terrible, horrible, smell. He was struggling to breathe, his lungs were filling with fluid and he kept crying out in pain and saying "Oh Mollie, I am so scared." I had to try so hard to keep it together. I really thought this was it, that I was saying good-bye to him. I couldn't believe the pain I was seeing right before my eyes. I just wanted someone to help him but of course they couldn't give him any pain meds until they received Dr's orders. I cannot explain the severity and scariness of his situation. So fast forward to 10 hours later, he was in ICU and recovering from surgery with less issues than we had been told to prepare for... All I can tell you is that this man's body was trying to die, his lungs were full of fluid (the CT showed that), he was coughing up large amounts of blood, the surgeons were all so worried; and I am not one to really believe in "miracles" but this man was saved and everyone in surgery knew it was a miracle. Even my dad realized that night in ICU that he was saved (from pain, etc.) and so happy that he sang on the top of his lungs "He is Lord" (and if you know him, he is so off-tune WITH hearing aids in - so no hearing aids in...oye, I wonder if they even recognized the song) - regardless, I absolutely LOVE that story of the crazy, pain free, hearing impaired man in ICU singing hymns! HA! So he is turning the corner, came out of ICU after two days and now is in intermediate ICU and is SO CRABBY. Whoa. I guess I would be crabby if I went through all that he has gone through as well!

So after we left that night, we are pulling out of the parking garage at the hospital and Lola starts vomiting. Yep, stomach flu all the way home. Oh my - I was so worried that she may have gotten my dad sick - but we all seemed to avoid that. She had her 6 mo appt the next day and she has a double ear infection. One more ear infection and she will be referred to an ENT for tubes. Poor girl. But, she is 95th for height, 90th for weight - nice, big, chubby, ooey, gooey, baby!

Once I am home I will update with some Easter pictures.
