Teague had such a fabulous "birthday week" (as they are referred to at our house because we celebrate ALL week)! On Monday he had a party at Tina's, Monday night Ryan's family came over and on his REAL birthday (Wednesday) our family along with my extended family went to the Como Zoo and Chuck E. Cheese's. It was a great week and I can't believe I have a 3 year old! The time just FLIES. Today I was sitting there watching Teague play and I just loved the innocence of his play. He was playing "imaginary" and just having a little conversation with all his Toy Story toys he got for his birthday. I just loved watching him play!
Last Friday we went to Morris for the Stevens County Relay for Life. What a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement of the event. We all wore matching T-shirts (except for Papa who wore a Relay shirt). My dad continues to do fairly well. He has been golfing, came over and got his boat out of storage so we know that fishing must be in his future, and working on the Habitat for Humanity house. He is, however, still having some struggles with his aspirating at night and therefore pneumonia. We hope that will subside in time so he doesn't have to be on antibiotics so often.
As a parent I know I will be experiencing a lot of "1sts". Having to call 9-1-1 because my 3 year old choked yesterday on parade candy was not one of those memorable 1sts. Ugh. All I can say is I am really glad that I took infant and child CPR and 1st Aid. It definitely came in handy. Ryan is not home at all this week as he is gone working basketball camps. I started 1st Aid (Heimlich) on him immediately but he wasn't dislodging it so I dialed 9-1-1 and as I am explaining the problem I finally dislodged it. It was really scary! Afterwards he had a sore throat, but nothing that A LOT of freeze pops couldn't help.
This week I also weaned Lola and this wasn't a good week for that as she doesn't like to take a bottle from me but will take it from others. So since Ryan isn't home a bottle is proving difficult. She's hungry and teething. It's been a little rough. She did get the other bottom tooth through finally. If anyone has any tips on making her sleep better I would be happy (and I have tried cry it out, Ferber, Pick up put down, rocking, feeding, etc.) so any other advice is much appreciated!
On Saturday we experienced quite the hail and wind storm here. The entire north side of our house, back garage, swing set and fence were damaged. We are now waiting to hear from insurance on the next step. We had a contractor out here and it sounds like we need a new roof, siding, fence, swing set, fascia and sofits. Could be quite the project. And my plants took a MAJOR beating. Ugh.
