Tough Week

It's not been a good week. And today is just not a good day. It's been rather sad actually. They say bad news comes in threes, so I am hoping this is it for our family.

1) Teague's follow up xray from his pneumonia last month showed that things are still not on track. Next step is a CT - which we are still debating on whether to have or not as he would have to be sedated and frankly I am not too keen on having my 14 month old sedated. However last night he woke up crying (abnormal) and with a fever - my first thought was "ear infection". He has woke up crying and with a fever only two other times and both of those times he was cutting teeth and then had an ear infection. So I took him in to see Dr. Heller today and he had a massive, infected and bulging ear drum. Poor man. That's probably the cause (I hope) for the abnormal xray from last Thursday (he was crabby then and had a cough and runny nose - precursors for an ear infection for him). So the bright side of all of that is I am hoping this means we can fore go the CT scan.

2) My dad was making something for our house and with everything on his mind he cut the tip of his finger off. Good Lord. First he throws out his back hauling the drywall sprayer from our house into his truck without assistance and ends up in hernia surgery (2 years ago) and now this. I swear he is going to request workman's comp from us eventually. So he spent the better part of this morning and afternoon in the ER with the surgeon. Luckily he "only" cut off part of the bone, but no nerve or tendon damage. And he did not require special surgery. However I hear he has a rather "funny" looking pointer finger.

3) And the worst news of all is my Uncle Bolla. I haven't wrote about it for a while as he was doing so well after his brain surgery from the summer. Unfortunately things are taking quite a poor turn for him. His goal was to have a nice and comfortable Christmas with his family. Never say never, so hopefully that will still be possible. However, please keep him and his family in your prayers. This is my dad's "baby brother" and it is taking it's emotional toll on my dad too. My dad comes from a family of 12 brothers and sisters. Of the 12, 4 of them are boys. One other succumbed to cancer about 12 years ago. Uncle Bolla has two grown children and one 16 year old daughter with special needs. She is why Uncle Bolla continues to fight this cancer so hard. Pray for them to find peace and strength.
