Here's to a Great Summer!

Well Monday we are back at it until June. I hate this time of the year for a variety of reasons. The main reason: saying good-bye to the warm weather. I really despise MN winters and it gets worse and worse for me every year. So it's not really getting back to work because let's face it, structure is good for all of us. I just love summer weather SO much! But I don't really like the first couple weeks of school because getting back "into the groove" is never easy. By mid September life is "normal" again.

This year will be extra special as Teague is starting preschool! I'm so excited for him, but sad that my little baby is not a little baby anymore. This past Wednesday Teague had Preschool "Screaming" (screening). He did AWESOME! He listened well, knew everything they asked him to do with the exception of rhyming and using a scissors. His rhyming went like this:
Teacher: bat and cat rhyme. Can you think of anything else that rhymes with cat?
Teague: another cat.
Teacher: what rhymes with rake?
Teague: flower.
So yes, rhyming needs some work. Also he's not very good at using a scissors, but I guess I didn't want to introduce him to self haircuts too early! But he knew how to count higher, do the alphabet (fwd and backwards!), identifying letters, numbers and sounds, writing letters/numbers more than an average 6 year old. We are excited for what this year will bring for him. I'm also excited that he will be in the same building as us which allows us to bring him to work with us and for me to be able to take him back to daycare at lunch time. And if I haven't already mentioned, I'm pretty excited to have taken a 20% cut at work so that I now have Fridays off to do special things with my kids.

Lola is still crazy, but hilarious too. She has finally gotten all of her teeth in with the exception of her 2 year molars. She says new words everyday and can for the most part repeat any words we ask her to repeat. Her favorites are Dora, Gaygo (Diego), Meika (my sister's dog), Daddy/Mommy (which is preceeded with no and ow), Teague! Teague! Teague! (in a screaming/scolding voice in which she is typically telling him to "eat!", "Inside!", "outside!"). She has the cutest little "stink" face which consists of her sticking her lips out and closing her eyes. She's hilarious and naughty, all at the same time. I realize that I call her a naughty, stinky baby too often as one day when I was praising Teague for one of the million generous things he had done for the day and he said "yeah, I'm really a good, big boy but Lola she's a naughty, stinky baby." I said to him "well she's not naughty all of the time, she can be quite sweet." to which he replied "well she cries everyday!" True, though I'm not sure that's what entitles her to the title of naughty, stinky baby.

I turned my back for a minute and here's Lola's attempt at dead heading my flowers....every one of them. Even the ones that didn't need it. She's sooo helpful.

Who doesn't enjoy a dip in the pool with their clothes on?

Even without "professional" swimming lessons this mama has taught Teague how to swim without his lifejacket. He does so well!
