I realize I have been so neglectful of this blog. My poor kids, since it was my intention to use this primarily as a "baby book" of sorts for them. Something for them to read later on so they knew all the silly, crazy things they did. I can only try to be better!
APRIL:
We had a great April The first week of April Ryan and I went to Las Vegas with our friends, Kayla and Matt Hoelscher. The kids got to spend some time with my parents and my sister's family. They were well taken care of! We had a nice time there, but the weather wasn't as great as one would hope for a spring vacation. Nonetheless, it was a vacation and we enjoyed our time away. We stayed downtown, which we have never done before, and we LOVED it. I definitely prefer downtown to the strip now. I think we will be back sometime in the next couple of years.
We had a wonderful Easter when we returned. The kids had a blast and got SO much sugar overload! I love that Teague has really learned so much about Jesus and at times I feel like he knows way more than me! He's a little sponge these days taking in all this new information and at random can just spit out the knowledge, it's crazy!
The next weekend we went to the Water park of American with my entire family. It was so fun to see how Teague can just run off with his older cousins and just check in periodically. He's a great swimmer, not needing his swimming vest any longer. Lola loved the littler kid area, repeating over and over going down the same slide over and over for hours! While I do enjoy water parks, I tend to get motion sickness WAY easy these days (ever since having kids), so I am not as fun. I wish I could go to Valleyfair and love it like I was 16, but that won't happen again.
The next weekend Ryan was off to Chicago to a bachelor party for a friend from college that he played ball with, Pat. I assume they had a great time. Lola, Teague and I went to my parent's house. The weather was really cruddy that weekend so we were mostly inside and Lola DID NOT sleep well there. She seems to have a thing about not sleeping well lately unless she is at home. Hopefully that changes as we have a lot of fun things planned for the summer that don't mean we are sleeping at home!
MAY
We celebrated Ryan's bday on the 2nd - something that was of more excitement for Teague than Ryan. T helped me make Ryan some "Sparkling Champagne Cupcakes" - a lot of work for mediocre results. But we had fun!
Mother's Day started out LITERALLY crappy. On Saturday night I noticed a "Bad" smell coming from the bathroom in the basement. As I investigated I saw that the shower in the basement was full of "poopy" water. Our sewer had backed up or the septic wasn't working. Great, who takes care of that on a Saturday at 10m and why hadn't our septic alarm went off???? So after MANY phone calls someone came to pump our septic tank on Sunday at 8am - that wasn't the cause. After a lot of investigation and LUCKILY an experienced plumber coming for Mother's Day brunch (MY DAD) we realized something (like a toy) was flushed down the toilet. We were able to get a roter rooter type machine from school to loosen the culprit. Ugh. After that I enjoyed a nice long nap, then we were off to Alexandria to buy some flowers for my pots and dinner. It was a ALMOST perfect day! =)
Today Miss Lola is home with some type of bug that is causing her to sleep the whole day. Nothing like a good snuggle from the cutest lady ever!
School is coming to an end. I am looking forward to my trip with the Spanish department and students from June 3-11th. I will miss the kids, but they will enjoy time alone with their daddy.
This coming Friday my mom, the kids and I are going to Como Zoo and the Children's museum on the ECFE bus. It appears like the weather will be great so we are hoping it stays that way!
Ryan got a different car in April, which we have enjoyed. He went from a mid size car to a mid size SUV. It's a bit more practical for having kids.
Lola has been making AWESOME strides in her potty training. I started last weekend with her, going at it hardcore and she really is doing well! She doesn't necessarily use the potty for going #2, but she's almost there. I am really amazed at how she seems to have "grown" in the past week, more mature and not so baby.toddler like. She is a very curious little lady and continues to entertain the entire family with her antics.
Teague is nearing the end of his first year of preschool and TKD. What an amazing little boy. He is so caring, sensitive, funny and loving. We had his preschool conference last week and according to her and the kindergarten prep test, he is more than ready for K. We are not sending him though, we are sending him to Montessori, which is more individually based and he can attend through 2nd grade. So if he needs work at the preschool level he can do that, or K level or even 1st or 2nd grade level - he works at his own levels. We are excited for this opportunity for him.
