And he's off!!

Yep, it's inevitable. My baby is growing up. He took two little wobbly "crawls" last night. He looked just like a newborn deer or something - all wobbly and unsure of himself! It was so cute I wanted to cheer and cry all at the same time!!! Ryan told me tonight to stop encouraging him (we are trying to buy all the time we can so we don't have to chase him around). He also is trying to pull himself up on things. Please tell me he will crawl for a while before walking???!!! So it is time to put up the baby gates, however our stairways are so wide we don't have gates that fit (shout out to Papa here, are you reading this?!). Papa said he would make us a couple of gates out of oak and stain them the same color as our woodwork, so they would blend in and not be such an eyesore. Oh, I love having such a handy dandy father!!

Speaking of my dad, he is having knee surgery on Friday. I am relieved for him and hoping this eases some of the pain he has been having in it for years. Teague and I will go and keep him company on Saturday.

Little Teague baby has a case of pink eye. Gotta love daycare. So after a long evening nap we ran over to Walmart to pick up his prescription. They say it clears really quickly with the medicine. On top of that, he has a little bruise below his eye from "fighting" with Maddie at daycare. Maddie is the same age as him and according to Tina, they love to play together, but they play rough. They were hitting eachother with little toys back and forth and laughing and then Teague took one to the eye and started to cry, which made Maddie cry too. Poor buddy. Here is a pathetic picture of his red eyes, the right one has a small bruise below it.

Oh, and a cute one of him and daddy cuddling before daddy left for his game. Can you tell who takes the most pictures around here? I don't think I have had a picture with Teague since Christmas!

Teague's Tricks

Oh that Teague is tricky! He is learning so many new things. He has been rocking back and forth on his hands and knees for about 3 weeks now without a take-off, however he can move from one end of the room to the other by rolling, scooting, or simply just digging his toes in and launching himself. I believe he will take off at any point now. He has been doing what we refer to as "push ups" for the last few days where he gets up on his hands and then on his tippy toes. I haven't caught that on camera, but here is a pic of him on all fours ready to go:

His other new trick is giving a high five. He is quite good at that and does it on demand (sounds like we are training a dog and not a baby, doesn't it?!). I think he gets a kick out of it because he gets such a reaction out of us! Here is a picture of him giving a high 5 to Ryan:

He of course surprises us every day with what he can do. He waves bye-bye, he puts his hand up in the air when we say "hi" to him, he can shoot/dunk a basketball (see video on the side if you haven't seen it already), and says Da da da da da da da. Quite disappointing for me as I have practiced "Ma ma ma ma ma ma ma" with him non-stop and never even said "da da da da da" to him before and that was what he came up with. Go figure. He has been saying "Hi" and "ooh ooh" for a few months. I guess those were the things we were saying the most to him without knowing it!

We had a good weekend. Friday night Ryan had a game. Yesterday we went out for dinner just the 3 of us at Bug A Boo Bay in Alexandria and then we came home and got Teague ready for bed and he had his first official "non family" babysitter while Ryan and I went out for a friend's birthday. I was home by 11:45 since this morning was my morning to get up with Teague (Ryan and I trade off with that on the weekends - he sleeps in one morning and I sleep in one morning). Anyway, when I got home last night he was awake (he was sleeping when we left). I told Courtney and Brad (babysitters) that he will normally sleep all night, but for whatever reason he tends to wake up if we are not home. And sure enough - 20 minutes before I got home, he woke up. When I got home he was just all smiles and thought it was play time!!! What a stinker! So after Brad and Courtney left off to bed he went until this morning. I guess he just wants to know that his mom is home!

I am so glad that it is the end of Feb and we are nearing the end of winter. I am so over winter and ready for some warmer weather. I know March can be such a bear as far as snow, but I can take one more month - but that's about it! We are ready to build our second garage and start on the decking and getting the pool installed. I just am looking forward to spending the warm months at home with Teague and Ryan enjoying the pool and being outside!

We hope everyone has a nice week!

Water Park Fun

We spent the "long" holiday weekend relaxing and then one night at the Grand Rios hotel and water park. We had a good time. My whole family was there: Mom, Dad, Aaron, Krista and the kids. It was nice to be together as a whole family. We don't get to do that very often. I couldn't believe how much "big" stuff there was to do at an indoor waterpark! Skylar loved the waterslides more than anyone (except for maybe Aaron, he was like a kid in a candy store)! I went on the slides on Sunday evening when it wasn't as packed and after going about 5 times I thought I was going to puke up my dinner (sorry if TMI)! So I guess I am not cut out for "big" rides like I used to be! ha ha.

I am not sure that Teague was too keen on it, I think because it was so noisy and not in a good way. It was super humid in there and the noise was so loud and echo-y that you couldn't hear what anyone was saying to you unless they were less than a foot away. We thought he wasn't feeling well because he just wanted to be held and then would just lay his head on your shoulder and snuggle. But the second we walked out into the hallway he was kicking his legs and laughing! We did take him on the lazy river, which he was sort of okay with, but DID NOT like it when we got hit by the waterfall. That really made him mad - especially when I think he was a bit scared anyway. That was on Sunday - Monday he was a little better about being in there, but we just let him sit in the kid's area in the water that was about a foot deep and he loved playing in there, as long as we were right next to him! I did take him in the big pool and dunk him (which probably wasn't very nice since he was feeling a bit uneasy anyway), but he did okay.

Here are a few pics; one of Teague snuggling and trying to feel secure, one of Kris, Aaron and Chase in the lazy river, and one of Teague playing in the pool. He loved playing with and watching Chase.

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day and 7 month bday for Teague! We had a good day. It was a rather normal day, but just a bit sweeter since we have this adorable baby. Here he is in his Valentine's Day outfit. One year ago on the 23rd we found out we were having a boy. I went on a shopping spree buying up clearanced clothes for this winter, and this was one of my buys. Hope your day was sweet too!

"Oh, excuse me while I cough..."

"Okay, now I am ready - 'cheese'"!

On the Mend, I think.

Well Teague appears to be on the mend. At least it appears that way. His fever FINALLY broke on Sunday. He is still so stuffed up and has a horrible cough. Without tylenol on Sunday and most of today, he is pretty lethargic. Ryan and I didn't send him to daycare today. He seemed like he still needed one more day of recooperating. I think we made a good choice with that as Papa came to be with him today and he slept in Papa's arms almost the entire day. And he still wanted to go to bed by 7:30. I feel so bad for him because you can tell he is so hungry, but when he starts to eat he can't breathe he is so congested, so he just gives up. But the important thing is that he appears to be getting better and he is going to try daycare tomorrow. If all goes well tomorrow at daycare we are heading to Morris to watch my HS alma mater take on the Melrose Dutchmen. Too bad I still know the Morris fight song better than the Dutchmen one...ahem, I am sure a few of you have heard it after a few drinks....
