Water Park Fun

We spent the "long" holiday weekend relaxing and then one night at the Grand Rios hotel and water park. We had a good time. My whole family was there: Mom, Dad, Aaron, Krista and the kids. It was nice to be together as a whole family. We don't get to do that very often. I couldn't believe how much "big" stuff there was to do at an indoor waterpark! Skylar loved the waterslides more than anyone (except for maybe Aaron, he was like a kid in a candy store)! I went on the slides on Sunday evening when it wasn't as packed and after going about 5 times I thought I was going to puke up my dinner (sorry if TMI)! So I guess I am not cut out for "big" rides like I used to be! ha ha.

I am not sure that Teague was too keen on it, I think because it was so noisy and not in a good way. It was super humid in there and the noise was so loud and echo-y that you couldn't hear what anyone was saying to you unless they were less than a foot away. We thought he wasn't feeling well because he just wanted to be held and then would just lay his head on your shoulder and snuggle. But the second we walked out into the hallway he was kicking his legs and laughing! We did take him on the lazy river, which he was sort of okay with, but DID NOT like it when we got hit by the waterfall. That really made him mad - especially when I think he was a bit scared anyway. That was on Sunday - Monday he was a little better about being in there, but we just let him sit in the kid's area in the water that was about a foot deep and he loved playing in there, as long as we were right next to him! I did take him in the big pool and dunk him (which probably wasn't very nice since he was feeling a bit uneasy anyway), but he did okay.

Here are a few pics; one of Teague snuggling and trying to feel secure, one of Kris, Aaron and Chase in the lazy river, and one of Teague playing in the pool. He loved playing with and watching Chase.

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day and 7 month bday for Teague! We had a good day. It was a rather normal day, but just a bit sweeter since we have this adorable baby. Here he is in his Valentine's Day outfit. One year ago on the 23rd we found out we were having a boy. I went on a shopping spree buying up clearanced clothes for this winter, and this was one of my buys. Hope your day was sweet too!

"Oh, excuse me while I cough..."

"Okay, now I am ready - 'cheese'"!

On the Mend, I think.

Well Teague appears to be on the mend. At least it appears that way. His fever FINALLY broke on Sunday. He is still so stuffed up and has a horrible cough. Without tylenol on Sunday and most of today, he is pretty lethargic. Ryan and I didn't send him to daycare today. He seemed like he still needed one more day of recooperating. I think we made a good choice with that as Papa came to be with him today and he slept in Papa's arms almost the entire day. And he still wanted to go to bed by 7:30. I feel so bad for him because you can tell he is so hungry, but when he starts to eat he can't breathe he is so congested, so he just gives up. But the important thing is that he appears to be getting better and he is going to try daycare tomorrow. If all goes well tomorrow at daycare we are heading to Morris to watch my HS alma mater take on the Melrose Dutchmen. Too bad I still know the Morris fight song better than the Dutchmen one...ahem, I am sure a few of you have heard it after a few drinks....

My poor, sick baby.

Poor baby Teague. He is so sick.

On Wednesday night he had a 101 temp, so I gave him some motrin and put him to bed. At 4:30 he woke up and I literally could feel the heat radiating off of his body in his crib. I took his temp and it was 103.5. I immediately gave him more motrin and took him to bed with me. I stayed home with him yesterday and he seemed like he was getting a little better during the day and then at 2:30 in the afternoon he still seemed feverish (after all day of alternating motrin and tylenol). I checked his temp and it was 104.1. I thought, that's it - I am taking him into the clinic. So here he is with this high temp, moaning with his eyes shut - but everytime he opened his eyes and saw a new person (nurse, dr., people in the waiting room, etc.) he was smiling so big and then shutting his eyes and back to moaning. Awwwww! He was checked for influenza (negative), RSV (negative at this point), ear infection (positive) and lastly they wanted his white blood levels checked since he had such a high temp.

So Ryan carries him down to lab while he is sleeping, lays him on the table in lab, he immediately opens his eyes and smiles at all the lab techs even while they are tying up his arm with the rubber band thing, cries while they poke one arm and fail. Smiles, then cries when they poke and are finally successful on the other arm - then I just couldn't take it anymore and just wanted to hold my baby. Oye - it was tough. Luckily his white blood count came back normal. Just a slight ear infection and a good old yucky virus that he has to fight off on his own.

So Ryan stayed home with him today where he continued with the rotation of tylenol and motrin with the highest fever being 104.2 and the lowest being 102. Finally before dinner it came down to 99 and he seemed like he was back on the mend. However, he is back to his chills and moaning. Oh my poor baby. I sure hope this ends soon.

Picture Happy!

Warning: Lots of pictures in this post! Teague's 1/2 year birthday came and went and I had all the best of intentions to get his pictures taken professionally. I was getting them taken every 6 weeks from when he was born since he was changing so much, but I can tell you that it is much harder to get *everything* done when you are a full time mom, counselor, wife, etc.! So last Sunday after his typical 3 hour afternoon nap we took the following pictures (there are tons of other cute ones, but these are our favorites)! I am pretty proud of my amateur photography!

We had a good weekend. On Saturday Grandma and Grandpa came over to watch Teague while Ryan and I went out with the CHS crowd. We had such a good time and one of the couple's who couldn't come due to babysitter issues sent us a round of tequila shots at the restaurant. Well for those of you that know me, I am not a "shot" type of girl. Cripes, I would puke just from a shot of kool-aid because of the thought of it being a "shot"! But I manned up and took the shot and practically ATE my lemon afterwards. Yuck. It was just as bad as I imagined it to be - but nonetheless we had a ton of fun and even got home at a decent time! Check out the Wahlin's blog for a picture or two.

Here is a picture of our future ball player from the JV bball game from Monday night. Plus a couple of other cute pics. One of which is a picture of Teague chewing on daddy's sweatshirt string. That is one of his favorite things (just like daddy - Ryan CONSTANTLY chews on those things). I think that if we just gave Teague a string he would play and chew on it all day - he seems so facinated by them. Weird.

I am finally (knock on wood) feeling better. I thought Ryan was over the hump, but he still has an annoying cough. Teague is back to coughing and a runny nose. I will be glad when the winter is over and he can get over this cold thing once and for all! He is back to his crap sleep schedule now that he isn't feeling the greatest. Remember what I said about "jinxing" his sleep?! I am so dumb - I should just keep my big, bragging mouth SHUT! So whenever I want to be super annoyed with Teague in the morning he wakes up and smiles and laughs at me, and of course I forget how sleep deprived I am getting (again)! I think he let me "catch up" from the last 6 months and now we are back at it again! Good thing he is so dang cute. Ryan and I being the educators that we are, we grade him on how "good" he is as a baby. Right now he is at a B+ range. When he was sleeping through the night he was a CLEAR A+ (and that's a weighted grade)! So he is still better than average.

Here he is in the bath - loving the water!

Have a good rest of the week. We are off to Morris on Friday night to see Nana and Papa. Then Ryan and I are going to the Morris boys bball game to scout since we play them next week. Saturday I am reffing a swimming meet all day, so Ryan and Teague will be going to water babies together. Other than that, we hope to have a low key weekend! Here are some pictures of Ryan and Teague at water babies a couple of weeks ago.
